LRS-16

Product Summary

The LRS-16 is a managed SHDSL modem concentrator, offering a cost-effective central site solution for point-to-point extension of E1 services over DSL in the Local Loop. The SHDSL modem concentrator can operate opposite 16 ASMi-52 SHDSL modems at remote locations, providing E1 services over 2-wire lines. Each one of the 16 fixed ports inside the LRS-16 can have separate clocking. LRS-16 employs standard SHDSL TC PAM16 technology to extend the transmission range, thus enabling carriers to reach more customers at lower costs. The LRS-16 is suitable for carriers, utilities and enterprises with DSL infrastructure.

Benefits

• Cost-effective central site solution• Variety of data rates• Compact unit

Further Product Information

The LRS-16 is a managed SHDSL modem concentrator, offering a cost-effective central site solution for point-to-point extension of E1 services in the Local Loop. The LRS-16 works opposite up to 16 ASMi-52 SHDSL modems at remote locations, providing E1 services over 2-wire lines. Each one of the 16 fixed ports inside the LRS-16 can have its own separate clocking.

Extended range

The LRS-16 managed SHDSL modem concentrator employs standard SHDSL TC PAM16 technology to extend the transmission range, thus enabling carriers to reach more customers at lower costs. The device uses an Embedded Operation Channel (EOC) for controlling and monitoring the remote unit. The management channel uses SHDSL overhead bits in compliance with ITU-T G.991.2 requirements, and operates without interfering with the data transmission.

Power Supplies

LRS-16 has single or dual power supplies. A power supply can be hot-swapped (replaced) during operation, without affecting system performance.

Management

The modem rack is managed by a UNIX-or PC based SNMP management system imbedded in the SHDSL rack. The user friendly software is GUI-based, and runs on PC/Windows (RADview-PC) or HP OpenView (RADview-HPOV) platforms. The SNMP management session can be run over a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port. Network management allows centralized control of all LRS-16 hubs, modem ports and remote modems in the network, including interface configuration, connection setup, alarms, and monitoring. LRS-16 can also be managed from an ASCII terminal that performs all SNMP functions without a GUI interface. Telnet allows terminal connection over any IP network. The front panel of the LRS-16 features a two-digit alphanumeric display to show the number of the hub that can be configured by the user during normal operation.

Diagnostics

LRS-16 has comprehensive diagnostics capabilities that are activated from either the ASCII terminal or from an SNMP management tool. They include the following test options: • Local analog and remote digital loop backs • SHDSL statistics collection for the line performance monitoring. • E1 performance statistics per ITU-T G.706 requirements. LRS-16 is available in a 1U high 19-inch enclosure.
